General Admission Requirements

FTCC has an open-admissions policy as established by the Louisiana Legislature and approved by the Board of Regents. Anyone with a high school diploma from a state approved high school or a GED (General Education Development) is eligible for admission. Those individuals without a high school diploma or its equivalent are also eligible for certain certificate or diploma programs.

All eligible persons are assured equal opportunity for admission without regard to ethnicity, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability marital status, or veteran’s status. Some programs may require additional admission standards in order to achieve program or industry accreditation standards.

Specific Admission Requirements

  1. Prospective students must have current ACT scores (within the last 5 years) or complete FTCC’s placement test (COMPASS). ACT scores may be ordered from ACT.org for a nominal fee. FTCC’s ACT school code is 5033. Students who use ACT scores must come by the Office of Student Affairs to complete an application.

  2. FTCC administers that COMPASS placement test on those days indicated below. There is a $20 testing fee payable at the time of testing. Students will complete an application after testing is complete.

  3. Official transcripts from each institution attended, after grades have been recorded, even if the credits appear on another school’s transcript.

  4. Proof of immunization (2 MMR shots [measles, mumps, & rubella] and a current tetanus-diphtheria [TD] shot taken within the last 10 years) or a signed request for exemption must be submitted.

  5. Proof of registration with Selective Service. This is a mandatory, non-negotiable requirement for all male students ages 18 – 25.

  6. Students may be admitted provisionally pending the receipt of necessary records.
