The primary mission of the Nursing Assistant program is workforce development. This program is designed to prepare students for employment in long-term care facilities, home health agencies, & hospitals where basic bedside nursing care is needed. Classroom instruction includes an introduction to health care, basic nursing skills, body structure and function, & infection control. Students participate in clinical activities under the supervision of the instructor. All OBRA Skill Standards are included in this competency-based curriculum. Upon completion of the program, the student is qualified for certification and employment in the areas of long-term, home health care, and acute care.

The Nursing Assistant program at Fletcher Technical Community College prepares individuals for:

  5. Promoting clients' rights.
  6. Meeting the basic needs of clients with dementia.
